This major new book describing project management over the last 5,000 years has been created by Mark Kozak-Holland, PMP, the well-known author of such popular titles as Project Lessons from the Great Escape, Agile Leadership and the Management of Change: Project Lessons from Winston Churchill and the Battle of Britain, and Avoiding Project Disaster: Titanic Lessons for IT Executives.  The new book, The History of Project Management, has been published in 2011 by Multi-Media Publications Inc. in their Lessons-from-History series.

Th garbage compactor review e Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, the Coliseum in Rome, and the Transcontinental Railroad in North America are all great historical projects from the past four millennia.  When we look back, we tend to look at these as great architectural or engineering works.  Project management tends to be overlooked, and yet its core principles were used extensively on these projects.  This book takes a look at the history of project management and how it has evolved over the past 4,500 years.  It shows that 'modern' project management practices did not just appear in the past 100 years but have been used – often with a lot of sophistication – for thousands of years.

Examining archaeological evidence, artwork from the period and surviving manuscripts, this book provides evidence of how each of the nine knowledge areas of project management (as shown in trash bins PMI's PMBoK® Guide) have been practiced throughout the ages.  The book covers the period from the construction of the ancient pyramids up to the 1940s. A future companion volume will cover more recent developments during the war years and the technology boom leading up to the present.  As readers explore the case studies in the book, they will discover fascinating details of innovative projects that produced many of our most famous landmarks and voyages of discovery.

"Algeria Petrochemicals Report Q3 2011" is now available at Fast Market Research

PRLog (Press Release) – May 27, 2011 – Sonatrach's delays in petrochemicals projects are undermining foreign investor confidence in the Algerian petrochemicals industry, according to BMI's latest Algeria Petrochemicals Report.

The start-up date of the 1mn tpa methanol complex planned by Sonatrach, to be built by a consortium of companies led by Kuwait's Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC), has been pushed back to 2014. So Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi natrach had planned to begin commercial operations in 2012, but restructuring of the company and its apparent desire to renegotiate its contract with its exasperated partners means that production will be delayed. As a result, costs could rise and BMI believes there is a danger that the project's capacities could be reduced.

The move comes after the completion of the Arzew petrochemicals complex was delayed until 2014, ostensibly to coincide with a full recovery in the European market and avoid the negative effects of the massive increase in Asian and Middle Eastern capacities in 2009-2011. By tapping into locally available gas resources, the country's development of an ethane-fed petrochemicals chain will enable Entreprise Nationale de l'Industrie Petrochimique (ENIP), in its JV with Total Petrochemicals and Qatar Petroleum, to undercut European plants. With 1.1mn tpa of ethylene production capacity and integrated downstream plants and low labour costs, the US$3bn petrochemical complex being built at Arzew should be more economic and efficient to run than smaller and often isolated European facilities.

----------------------------------------------- -------------Full Report Details at - http://www.fastmr.com/prod/158413_algeria_petrochemicals ... ------------------------------------------------------------

However, delays in capacity will not only raise costs and reduce margins in the long term, they will create a more uncertain business environment that will undermine the industry's progress and put at ri trash bins sk its significant cost advantages in terms of domestic natural gas feedstock availability. Sonatrach has already scaled back its ambitious plans announced in early 2005 for large petrochemical plants from seven to two. The integrated purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and polyethylene terephthalic complex, as well as a linear alkyl benzene complex were shelved due to a lack of interest. The naphtha/condensate steam cracker, a fuel oil catalytic cracker at Skikda, and an integrated propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and PP plant at Arzew have been 'deprioritised'.

At the same time, Algeria is focused on low added value production with focus on commodity chemicals that are highly price responsive to market fluctuations and easily undermined by capacity elsewhere in the world. The industry is far from competing on equal terms with European petrochemicals producers in terms of product diversification.

In the Middle East and Africa Petrochemicals Business Environment Ratings, Algeria is in 10th place with an overall score of 39.5 points, 0.2 up on the previous quarter due to an improvement in its long-term score for structural characteristics of the economy. It lies 7.6 points behind Turkey and 8.7 points ahead of Nigeria. Meanwhile, its petrochemicals-specific scores are benefitting from progress on the Arzew petrochemicals complex, although delays are undermining the country's petrochemicals market risk score. On nearly every indicator, Algeria comes last by a long margin, expect when Nigeria scores worse, and this is likely to remain the situation until the Arzew complex comes onstream.

CRI: Research Report on China's Tea Industry 2011-2012

PRLog (Press Release) – May 25, 2011 – www.cri-report.com - Chinese people have the habit of tea drinking. Tea drinking and tea planting in various countries in the world are spread from China directly or indirectly. In 729 AD, tea drinking spread to Japan first. In 1610, Dutch traders bought tea from China, which was transferred to various European countries afterwards. Subsequently, tea became a kind of worldwide drinks. China's tea planting technology was first transmitted to Japan. In 1780, East India Company in India imported tea seeds from Guangdong to India. Nowadays, there are over 50 countries planting and producing tea worldwide.

In 2010, the total output of tea in China exceeded 1.40 million tons, ranking the first in the world. In 2010, China's domestic market consumed about 1.10 million tons of tea. In China, in addition to traditional tea, deep processed products with high technology content have become new favorites of the market. Tea drinks, tea food and instant tea have met people's requirement for increasingly accelerating life pace. Tea polyphenol, theanine, tea pigment and other tea extract products have become health care products chosen by many people.

Statistics show that China's tea deep processing field adopts raw material occupying 6% of China's total tea output, but creates the market of CNY 30 billion, accounting for one third of the market scale of China's tea industry.

Despite many unfavorable factors such as appreciation of RMB and increase in costs of production goods and labor, in 2010, China's tea export volume still exceeded 300,000 tons, ranking the second in the world, and the tea export value hit the record high, reaching USD 7 trash bins //garbagecompactor.info">garbage compactor review 84 million.

Seen by categories, in 2010, the export of green tea, scented tea and Pu'er tea increased while that of oolong tea and black tea decreased. Seen by markets, the export to the U.S.A. and Russia increased rapidly. However, influenced by shortage in raw material supply, increase in production costs, quality standardization, etc., t Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi he export to West Africa and other traditional markets experienced a decline.

Despite the large number of China's tea enterprises, there's a lack of leading enterprises and global well-known brands in international tea industry in a real sense, and standardized and normalized tea production chain has not been formed. At present, China's exported tea is still mostly raw material products, and the competition is mainly low-level price competition. In 2010, China's average tea export price was less than 2.70 USD/kg, lower than that of Sri Lanka, Kenya and other countries.

In China, the tea industry is a perfectly competitive industry. In China, there are over 70,000 enterprises producing and processing tea, over 100 tea brands, and very low industry concentration, and even the market share of the No.1 enterprise is less than 1%. The future development trend is that the industry concentration will increase substantially and need the integration among enterprises.

It is predicted that in 2011-2012, the output and the export volume of China's tea will continuously rise and market competition will become more intense.

Rushlift Secures £100m Saint-gobain Deal

PRLog (Press Release) – May 23, 2011 – The exclusive ten-year deal will see Rushlift supply the group with a variety of materials handling equipment and covers the management and maintenance of over 2,000 forklifts across a variety of UK manufacturing, retail and merchant sites. These include the company's Jewson, JP Corry and Gibbs and Dandy builders' merchants chains.

The scale of the agreement, over two years in the making and worth around £100m over the next 10 years, has prompted Rushlift to recruit 30 additional engineering, account management and administrative personnel, with more appointments expected to follow.

Rushlift Chairman, Peter Cosgrove, says the contract has only been made possible thanks to the efforts of Rushlift's national accounts, technical and service teams, and thanks to detailed negotiations with key suppliers.

Said Peter: "A great Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi deal of credit has to go to everyone involved in this journey, from our sales and operations teams to our engineers and support staff, who have continually, and to the highest standard, demonstrated to Saint-Gobain what we at Rushlift are capable of."

During the long tender process Rushlift were given opportunities to demonstrate their abilities at several Saint-Gobain sites, opportunities which, Peter Cosgrove believes, allowed the company to outperform its competitors.

"We have been able to deliver higher levels of service at lower cost than our competitors and we have gained the business against competition from all the major companies in the industry. The agreement is on an unprecedented scale and we are excited by the opportunities and challenges it presents our business. manual trash compactor It's a superb vote of confidence in our business values and approach."

The world leader in the production, processing and distribution of construction materials, Saint-Gobain has a dedicated team overseeing UK and Ireland logistics, based in Southampton.

Saint-Gobain were particularly impressed with Rushlift's helicop ter technology flexibility in providing electronic data exchange. The online system in place allows companies to log jobs without having to call a depot and for Saint-Gobain's fleet management systems to be updated by Rushlift on a daily basis.

Saint-Gobain Fleet Director, Ian Berrill, says they were impressed by Rushlift's track record and were keen to make the most of their economies of scale and take advantage of these latest technical developments.

Said Ian: "We've had many years of growth and acquisitions since first establishing our truck fleet and we were keen to provide modern, reliable equipment to our many different users. Having the UK's largest fleet has many benefits but also many challenges. Being able to manage the fleet makeup, control costs and respond to our changing needs is crucial. Rushlift's approach offers us a real business advantage, allowing for full visibility of equipment across over 800 sites in the UK and Ireland."

Rushlift has already taken responsibility for maintaining Jewson's lorry mounted cranes as well as deliver a number of machines in selected businesses. One of the first groups to benefit from the deal has been the company's Irish builders' merchants chain, JP Corry. Over 50 new trucks have already been delivered and weeks of discussions, site surveys and feasibility studies have been completed.

Rushlift Sales Manager for Saint-Gobain, Matt Turner, believes the new fleet will deliver both cost savings and increased productivity.

"We've taken a hard headed look at the fleet, and it's true to say there were significant savings to be made from amalgamating the whole service package. However, we've also restructured the makeup of the fleet to more accurately reflect the business' needs, and introduced new Doosan and Combilift equipment which has really pushed the operation forward."

As well as liaising with key suppliers, Rushlift has also introduced bespoke operator training and online reporting procedures. It's a complete package befitting one of the world's biggest forklift operators.

"There are certain expectations 1086274749  that come with a deal of this size," say Matt Turner, "and we have done our utmost to exceed them. There has been much effort in developing our own business structure to allow us to bring practical solutions to the likes of JP Corry, Jewson and other gro rc helicopter market place up businesses. The work is now underway in delivering the promise and bringing wide-ranging improvements across the group."

Rushlift is a leading provider of innovative materials handling solutions, with over 100 mobile engineers servicing customers from Aberdeen to Cornwall. As part of the Specialist Hire Group, Rushlift has experienced phenomenal growth over the past five years and was recently voted one of the UK's fastest growing companies.

Martek to exhbit latest railway power supplies at Railtex 2011

PRLog (Press Release) – May 20, 2011 – Martek Power's booth – C51 - will feature an extensive range of "on board" power converters in various form factors. These will range from 10W IP65 encapsulated modules to 19inch rack mount Eurocard units on up to 500W bulkhead power chassis modules the majori trash bins ty of which are compliant with both EN51055 and RIA standards.  The new CCR050 Series of DC/DC converters was designed by Martek Power to satisfy the majority of rolling stock DC power applications with a single unit thanks to its very wide input voltage range. As a result, users are able to specify the same power supply no matter what the input voltage demanded by the application. The power supplies comply fully with the requirements of EN50155 for railway applications, including EN 50121-3-2, EN55011 and EN 61373.

The CCR050 converters accept a very wide nominal input voltage range from 24 to 110VDC (16.8 to 137.5VDC) and provide up to 50W. Nominal output voltage is 24VDC; models Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi with alternative output voltages are available on request. Efficiency levels are better than 85% at 72V input voltage.

Key features include reverse input voltage protection, over voltage protection, permanent short circuit protection and inrush current limitation. Operating temperature range is -40º to +70ºC without derating. CCR050 Series converters feature faston terminals for both input and output connections and are available open frame or housed in a simple metal enclosure. The open frame version measures 105 x 100 x 35.5mm.

Martek Power's JL series has been expanded and the new additions will be displayed at Railtex 2011. The JLM and JLHM units are rated at 35W and 50W respectively, and offer all the features and benefits of the standard range, including full EN50155 compliance, but in a much smaller footprint. The open fr manual trash compactor ame version of both products measures just 115 x 85 x 22mm, which is less than half the overall size of the original units; making them ideal for customers wishing to install a converter in their equipment and where space is limited. For chassis mount applications, an enclosed version is also available. The JLM & JLHM series are available with output voltages from 5 to 110V and all the typical railway input voltages are catered for.

Another addition to the JL Series is a conduction-cooled version developed by Martek Power  in response to an increase in applications where the power supply is mounted inside a sealed enclosure. Outputs can be specified between 5 and 110Vdc and the units have a footprint of just 135 x 85mm including the mounting plate. With efficiencies approaching 90%, the conduction cooled versions help to minimize any temperature rise within the host equipment.

The MBRH series extends the established and highly popular MBR series to an outpu helicop ter technology t power of 25W while retaining the same physical envelope and mechanical platform as existing 15W models. Like earlier models, the MBRH units are fully encapsulated DC/DC converters available in single 1086274749  and dual output configurations with outputs available from 5 to 48V. All models meet applicable railway industry standards – RIA, EN50155 and EN50121.3.2 and, unlike competitive modules, the MBRH units require no additional external components for EMI filtering and 10ms EN51055 S2 hold up time. All models are available for either PCB or bulkhead mounting.

To train or not to train your staff, that is the question

PRLog (Press Release) – May 18, 2011 – This downturn has resulted, according to statistics from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, in the dangerous 'knee-jerk' reaction by twenty per cent of UK organisations that have decreased their training budgets in the past 12 months.

Safety and teamwork training saves money for organisations in the long term, creating greater profits, reducing the risk of injury and helping to build a more content, motivated and productive workforce.  So the question is, can organisations afford not to have well trained staff?

Captain John Wright, Managing Director of WrightWay, says, "Accidents and other loss events sadly do occur and common contributory factors such as a breakdown in teamwork & communication, inexperienced workers, poor management style, fatigue and stress feature in the majority of mishaps.  However, these can be cost effectively overcome by a total commitment to safety by everybody in the company, not just the managers, through teamwork, openness, professionalism and by practical and interactive training programmes that include everyone. Doing this will definitely result in sending more people home in one piece and will probably be the most productive thing you will ever do in your company. Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi Safety and efficiency are two sides of the same coin. "

Results from research conducted by the National Maritime Occupation Health and Safety Committee were illustrated by an 'accident triangle.'  The triangle showed that in an analysis of over two million workplace accidents, for every event that lead to a fatality there were three that lead to serious injury, 30 that lead to an injury serious enough to require time off work, 300 minor injuries requiring first aid, 3,000 'near misses' that did not lead to damage or injury and as many as 30,000 unsafe acts that did not result in any harm. The actual figures vary between different industries, but the relationship between each outcome is similar.

According to WrightWay, experience has shown that by concentrating on the rc helicopter market place elimination of the unsafe acts, it is possible to eliminate occurrences with more serious and costly consequences. This requires training and culture change – WrightWay's specialist areas.

"We understand the need to break down the barriers that can exist in the name of 'safety' and recognise this is easier said than done.  Our methods of cracking this particular 'nut' closes the real or perceived 'chasm' between the company's management team and their workforce and creates a single 'One Team, One Goal' culture," comments John Wright.

"To achieve this, WrightWay helps organisations to harness the enormous energy within the workforce that may previously have been untapped, to create a culture of shared ownership and cheerful accountability: This leads to step change improvements in safety and business performance. The results are greater profits, reduced risk of injury, a safer working environment and  a happier workforce. Using these methods, in two years, one client sent 213 people home in one piece that statistically would have been injured, saved over 5000 man days and avoided $7.5 million in direct costs."

One of the most popular courses that WrightWay offers is Human Performance Training. The course includes a unique, hands-on, interactive approach using a state-of-the-art simula garbage compactor review tor. The delegates are required to work together to achieve a successful outcome, for instance, manoeuvring a cruise liner out of Southampton docks.  This course concentrates on the attitudes and behaviours of individuals and their impact on safety.  It provides the opportunity for people to examine their own behaviour and make individual decisions on how to improve their teamwork.

Human Performance Training originated in aviation and is now a vital element of training for all safety critical industries. The principles of Human Performance Training, however, are applicable to all business and working 1086274749  environments.  WrightWay's innovative training courses have applications in a diverse range of industrie trash bins s.

WrightWay was established in 2000 by founding partner and Managing Director Captain John Wright. WrightWay's team of expert consultants have a broad range of skills and experience from many industry sectors including shipping, manufacturing and defence. The team is based in the UK, though they often work overseas with WrightWay's international clients.

Recently released market study: Iraq Infrastructure Report Q2 2011

PRLog (Press Release) – May 14, 2011 – Reconstruction in Iraq is providing considerable contract opportunities and creating substantial added value for the construction sector. Infrastructure continues to be a priority investment area for the government, especially as protests against the poor provision of services have become more widespread over recent months, stimulated in part by the wave of protests across the Middle East and North Africa. Addressing core concerns including electricity shortages, scarcity of housing and insufficient transport links is a priority. Indeed, in order for the economy to return to some semblance of normality, core infrastructure needs to be in place. As a result, a number of contracts have been awarded in these sectors over the past 12 months.

Key sectors to watch:

* Transport: Transport is slowly emerging as the sector which is receiving the grea rc helicopter market place test attention, even though electricity has taken priority in recent years. In January 2011, Alstom signed an outline agreement for the construction of a 25km elevated metro line in Baghdad. In February 2011, it was announced that the contract for construction of the Al Faw port would be released by the end of 2011. It is hoped the US$6.3bn project will be completed by 2013. At the same time, a tender for a new international airport to serve the provinces of Kerbala, Najaf and Hilla is due to be released in October 2011.  * Electricity: A shortage of electricity continues to be a major cause of unrest and a substantial barrier to growth. The ambitious new target of generating 27,000MW of electricity by 2013 appears unlikely to be met; however, investment is filtering through to the sector, with projects tendered and contracts awarded for the installation of turbines.  * Housing: Huge housing projects have been announced over recent months. A scarcity of housing is another major issue which has provoked popular unrest. In response around 2mn housing units are to be built in the country over the next four years, with the government committing large funds to achieving this. The sector has seen a number of regional construction companies - especially those from the GCC - enter the country. Multi-billion dollar projects have been announced in both Kurdistan and the rest of Iraq. Most recently, Turkey's Ayyildizlar Construction announced it would build 62,000 houses in Arbil, the capital of Kurdistan

------------------------------------------------- -----------Full Report Details at - http://www.fastmr.com/prod/152690_iraq_infrastructure_re ... ------------------------------------------------------------

The growing focus on infrastructure in Iraq will continue to present substantial opportunities for those construction companies willing to price in the sizeable risks and enter the market. A lack of capacity and expertise among local construction companies has the led the government to call for international participation in rebuilding Iraq's infrastructure.

With social and economic infrastructure formi trash bins ng a significant portion of the government's investments, we expect strong growth to continue over the medium term. In 2011, growth of 15% is expected, as a result of contracts awarded. Owing to the substantial project pipeline, real growth is forecast to average 9% between 2012 and 2015.

"Kenya Power Report Q2 2011" is now available at Fast Market Research

PRLog (Press Release) – May 14, 2011 – In this new Kenya Power report, we forecast that the country will account for just 0.70% of Middle East and Africa (MEA) regional power generation by 2015, with efforts being made to diversify supply away from hydro-electricity and boost the contribution of geothermal energy. BMI's MEA power generation assumption for 2010 is 1,222 terawatt hours (TWh), representing an increase of 4.0% over the previous year (where markets were depressed by the economic slowdown). We are forecasting an increase in regional generation, to 1,508TWh, by 2015, representing a rise of 18.5% between 2011 and the end of the period.

MEA thermal power generation in 2010 is estimated by BMI to have been 1,140TWh, accounting for 93.3% of the total electricity supplied in the region. Our forecast for 2015 is 1,370TWh, implying 16.1% growth in 2011-2015 that reduces slightly the market share of thermal generation to 90.8% - thanks in part to environmental concerns that should be promoting renewables, hydro-electricity and nuclear generation. Kenya's thermal generation in 2010 will have been an estimated 2.3TWh, or 0.20% of the regional total. By 2015, the country is expected to account for 0.28% of regional thermal generation.

Direct burning of wood and waste materials, plus some renewables-based power generation, will have been the dominant energy source for Kenya in 2010, accounting for an estimated 78% of primary energy demand (PED), followed by oil at 20% and hydro with a near 2% share of PED. Regional energy demand is forecast to reach 1,114mn tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) by 2015, representing 15.9% growth over the period since 2011. Kenya's estimated 2010 market share of 2.18% is set to reach 2.46% by 2015.

Kenya now shares sixth place with Nigeria in BMI's updated Power Business Environment Ratings. Its position is vulnerable given the modest size of the market. Growth prospects are good and the proportion of renewables is the highest in the region. However, import dependency is also high and the power sector is not particularly competitive, with limited progress towards privatisation.

BMI forecasts that Kenya's real GDP growth will average 5.7% a year between 2011 and 2015, with 2011 growth forecast to be 6.0%. The population is expected to expand from 40.9mn to 46.5mn over the period, with GDP per capita and electricity consumption per capita forecast to increase by 70% and 29% respectively. Power consumption is expected to increase from an estimated 6.4TWh in 2010 to 10.0TWh by 2015, providing an improvement in market coverage on the basis of 6.5% average annual growth in electricity generation over 2011-2015. Losses of more than 1TWh during power transmission and distribution mean the market is likely to remain tight for several years.

Between 2011 and 2020, we forecast an 82.1% increase in Kenyan electricity ge trash bins neration, in the top half of the regional range. This equates to 35.2% growth in 2015-2020, up from 34.6% in 2011-2015. PED growth is set to ease from 27.5% in 2011-2015 to 24.1% in 2015-2020, representing 58.1% for the entire forecast period. From 2014, the availability of coal-fired power is one key element of generation growth. Thermal power generation is forecast to rise by 163% between 2011 and 2020. Details of the longer term BMI power forecasts can be found later in this report.

Rotary Feeder Improves Material Introduction Consistency; Reduces Energy Use in Pneumatic Conveying.

PRLog (Press Release) – May 09, 2011 – Designed specifically for pneumatic conveying of dense materials, such as: fine powders used in chemical trash bins and pharmaceutical processing, food and bakery processing, plastics, and milling, the Aero-Flow™ Series of rotary feeders from ACS Valves provides highly efficient, air-assisted, material introduction to pneumatic conveying systems.

The ACS Aero-Flow™ Series (http://www.acsvalves.com/AF_series.htm) of rotary feeders uses a proprietary, dual-induction endplate design to introduce pressurized air from both endplates into the rotor pockets carrying process material. The high bulk density material, when mixed with air, is more effectively released from the rotor pockets, and is more efficiently introduced to the pneumatically conveyed material flow. The Aero-Flow™ Series dual-induction design speeds the material fluidization process, improves material consistency, and optimizes feeder energy consumption when compared to conventional, single-induction feeder designs. Further energy efficiency is provided by an available ACS variable frequency drive to modulate the feeder drive speed and reduce power requirements based on the fluctuating performance needs of the system.

ACS Valves (http://www.acsvalves.com/) Aero-Flow™ Series feeder housings are cast in North America to ensure superior strength in the composition and solidi helicop ter technology fication of the housing's metallurgy. ACS Aero-Flow™ feeder housings are available in cast iron, and 304 or 316 s garbage compactor review tainless steel; in either 17-1/2 inch o Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi r 21-1/8 inch heights. The Aero-Flow™ Series feeders provide optimal service in applications with pressure differentials up to 15 PSIG, and elevated temperatures 1086273860  to 500ºF. The Aero-Flow™ Series 10-vane rotor is precision machined with beveled vane tips and sides. Other Aero-Flow™ rotor configurations include: Teflon®-coated, and adjustable-tips. Adjustable rotor tips are available in hardened steel, or stainless steel. Rotor housing interior surface coating options include: hard chrome, tungsten, and Teflon®.
